GM Notes
Pathfinder 2nd Edition Conversion Notes (SPOILERS BELOW):
One of the most difficult aspects of first edition was leveraging swarm encounters in an adventure path. By their nature in PF1E they were either very simple for parties with Area of Effect magics to deal with or extremely hard for other heroes. This AP does have a lot of alchemists fire built into the loot table (some of which I have made sure to drop in our second edition game) but it turns out it wasn’t needed.
The rules change for PF2E swarm creatures means that they are harder to hit with swords and claw attacks, and take less damage, but are still somewhat vulnerable, especially to a good crit or two. This combat was just a taste of things to come, as there are many hard combats on this island still to come…
