The final dark watery cavern of Ripetide Cove beckons, as the party hears the shouts of Sandara Quinn from within. What horror’s lie in ‘The Cauldron’, the lair of this Grindylow’s leader? What horrors exist just below the fetid surface? You will find out just as the heroes do on this week’s Dead Men Roll No Crits!

Pathfinder 2nd Edition Conversion Notes (SPOILERS BELOW):
So this was obviously a very important episode for conversions as there are two big ones that needed work here. The first was make an equally dangerous an frightening druid in the form of the Brinebrood Queen, and the second of course her monstrous son “The Whale”.
Both of these creature conversions came with their own challenges. Part of the difficulty of this encounter is added into the darkened water, the two hostages, and the underwater Ghouls. Each of the creature conversions though I tried to get an equivalent monster or NPC at a similar level and balanced the Armor classes, attacks and abilities. “A Gorilla Mixed with an Octopus” is how Rebecca described the Whale, and that was true. I made it somewhat of a glass cannon as its AC was less than its faster and smaller Mother.
In the end I think that the fight came out well balanced, as it could have gone either way, but of course, this episode the PCs get away with it yet again without missing a leg to a shark attack…There’s always next week!
